Most electric space heaters are manufactured with heat resistant materials to protect you from the actual heating element within the unit. To prevent injuries when using these heaters never touch anything other than the controls on the unit.
If you need to move the electric space heater it is best to turn it off and let it cool for a while before moving it. Always use the build in handle when moving the unit.
Remember too that these electric space heaters are not a table. Never sit anything on top of the unit, even if it is not on. Someone could inadvertently come by and turn it on.
Just about all electric space heaters are now equipped automatic cut-off protection in case the unit is accidentally turned over. It is a good idea to check and make sure that these switches, which are usually placed on the bottom of the heater, are always working properly.
